Will A MIdface Implant Make My Nostrils Wider and My Nose Upturned?

Q: Dr. Eppley, If one were to do something like full midface implant, would it have a similar effect on the nose as a lefort where the nose becomes wider and upturned?

A:Not necessarily. It would depend on the various thicknesses in the nasal base area. It almost assuredly would not increase nasal tip rotation. But any form of midface soft tissue degloving, even without placing an implant, can widen the nostrils by a few millimeters. But that potential issue is overcome by either intraoral nasal base suturing or external nostril narrowing by sill wedges.
