Why Does This Ridge Of Tissue Appear On My Chin After Sliding Genioplasty?
Q: Dr. Eppley, I had a sliding genioplasty 6 months ago and whenever I close my mouth this ‘ridge’ of skin appears on my chin. Could this be the plate and screws causing this or is there too much tension on my skin? Thank you
A: It is a soft tissue adhesion/scar contracture. Whether removing the plate and screws alone will solve it or that combined with a small fat graft is needed is the only debate.
