Q: Dr. Eppley, To whom this may concern. I was wondering if the surgeon is able to a large restructuring to a patient’s skull that has sagittal crainosynosis? Thanks!
A: In adult scaphocephalic head shapes the typical approach is bony reduction of the AP length as well as thge sagittal crest (as the bone thickness permits) along with augmentation of the sides of the head with custom skull implants. How this problem is approached in adults is very different from that in infants and young children.
