Should I Have Submental Liposuction vs A Necklift With A Sliding Genioplasty?

Q: Dr. Eppley, When previously researching the sliding genioplasty procedure locally, I have been told to achieve the best results a neck lift would be best compared to submental liposuction that Dr. yourecommended. Can you explain the difference? 

A: I would never do a necklift in a young male with no real skin laxity. Quite frankly that would never be an option given the scars that would result and that is simply isn’t necessary. The debate can be made between submental liposuction vs submentoplasty in treating your neck but not a formal necklift. But whomever made that recommendation has no understanding of how much improvement the sliding genioplasty alone will have on your neck.
