Can I Get Wrist Implants?
Q: Dr. Eppley, Hallo , my question or my problem is that I have really a very thin wrists (14 inches) each one of them and I am in my twenties. I wear all the time long arm T-shirts that my wrists are not showing. I am really insecure about them. So is there maybe a chance or way that I can increase my wrists.
A:Unlike the forearms the wrists pose some limitations for augmentation as they join with the the hand at a flexible joint area. As a result an implant can not cross the wrist crease and any augmentation must stop at this point. (see attached image) So the wrists can be augmented but it depends on how one defines the location of the needed augmented area.
