Can I Get Overfilled Saline Breast Implants to 2500ccs?

Q: Dr. Eppley,  I have 1500cc silicone breast implants but I would like to switch to 2500cc in overfilled saline solution. Here in Italy they don’t do it because they say that an 800cc prosthesis overfilled to 2500cc would certainly break, then tend to deflate, the valve would have problems. What do you think?

A: Those are legitimate overfilled saline breast implant concerns although I have not seen them. I think an equal if not bigger issue is that with an existing implant capsule from your indwelling silicone implants the capsule is not going to allow for an additional 1000ccs of volume.  It may permit 300cc to 500cc ore volume but most certainly not 1000ccs.
