Can I Get Masseter Muscle Implants To Make My Jaw Wider?

Q: Dr. Eppley, Hello, im interested in custom implants to make my masseter muscle bigger. I already have a jaw implant inserted because my jaw was shaved a decade ago and it ended up being a bad choice. Along with the jaw shaving they ended up shaving a good amount of my masseter which I desperately want the appearance of back. My face was much wider and now it is narrow. I have had fat taken out of my face, so im not talking about that, but the overall shape of the face. I last picture is the look i’m going for.

A: The challenge that you now have is that adding implants to the implant you have in place would be very difficult from an intraoral perspective. That is clearly a  titanium or PEEK implant material in which fixing an implant onto it would be difficult. This is best done from an external approach where implant placement and fixation would be more assured.
