Q: Dr. Eppley, Hello I have butt implants 370 cc I want to exchange to small size and get hip and thigh implants.
A: My comments to these lower body implant questions are:
1) Since the smallest buttock implant size is 230ccs, coming 140ccs from 370ccs, would probably not make much of a size difference. In addition placing a smaller buttock implant size (with a smaller diameter) in a larger implant pocket may result in the new implant sliding around postop.
2) Hip implants of any size have a high propensity for complications given their superficial location and the vertical shape and placement of the implants. So I have learned to be very cautious about their use and remain very guarded about their implantation at this time.
3) Thigh implants do better than hip implants and have a much lower rate of complications.
