Am I Safe To Have An MRI If I Had A Sliding Geniopasty?

Q: Dr. Eppley, I’m a previous patient of Dr. Eppley (Sept 15, 2022 surgery date). That procedure involved a surgically implanted plate and screws.I have an upcoming MRI and I need to confirm what implant material Dr. Eppley used, to be sure that it is completely MRI-safe and not at all magnetic. Can you check with Dr. Eppley and your documentation to find out?

Thanks for your consideration,

A: All metal implants used in the face since the early 1990s is made of titanium, a non-ferromagnetic metal. Thus any metal hardware implanted in your face would be MRI compatible.
